Hi everyone -Cinnamon here again. I have been away on stress leave because no one told me I have been spelling “you” wrong my whole life. I am so embarrassed. My therapist told me I was a perfectionist and this has some pretty negative “Ram-ifications”. Anyway - workin’ on the self compassion…

Chris here with this week’s update! Now those of you who who follow our newsletter may be disappointed in the change in writers, but Cinnamon is currently off taking a spelling and grammar course and will be back next week!
I want to remind you that our farm stand is open all day Wednesdays from 10:30 am to 6 pm right here at 9420 West Saanich Road. When you see that “open” sign turn into the driveway through the gates and park just to your left. One of us will be there to serve you. IF WE ARE NOT AT THE STAND, ONE OF US IS IN THE GARDEN SO RING THE BELL LOUDLY OR JUST WALK IN TO THE GARDEN AND HOLLER!
Our Wednesday markets are an ongoing series so we suggest you binge attend! And like all good series- we have a cameo appearance by Jen Rashleigh and her gorgeous floral arrangements tomorrow. In fact Jen’s arrangements will soon becaome a regular cast member both on Wednesdays and at our booth at the North Saanich Farm market on Saturday mornings. You will never get as gorgeous and long lasting a bouquet for only $12.00 anywhere else. And of course we will have our broad beans, shelling peas, zucchini, pattypan squash, fresh garlic, pre washed salad greens, arugula, radishes, eggs and a few other surprises. if you are gift shopping, how about an Anneth farm apron-(each one unique)?
Did we tell you how much we appreciate the pioneers who are using our online store? In fact you can use it today and pick up at the stand during our market tomorrow. This is especially helpful when ordering produce that is at its best when it is freshly picked- like the salad greens or arugula. That way we can pick just before you pick up. You know the drill - just go to https://anneth-farm.square.site/ to order ahead. Although Wednesday is our all day market, you can also order and get online pickups Monday to Thursday from 4 to 6 pm. Those of you who have done this will know that the closed sign is often out during those times and the gate is closed. That only means the market is closed but pick ups are still available. You just have to push a button inside the fence (on the left) to get in. (There is a sign). The gate will close by itself behind you and your produce will be in a paper bag with your name on it. Why Ewe Should Order Online on Fridays!
Hi everyone- Cinnamon the pasture manager here again. Chris and Stan think they are my bosses and I usually let them think that. Anyway - they are busy getting ready to bring some delicious produce to the North Saanich Farmers market tomorrow! (10990 W Saanich Rd, North Saanich, BC V8L 5P6). I have never been there because I am a sheep and I don’t drive but I know they love being there.
SO they want to encourage you humans to try ordering online on Friday using the anneth farm online store. Just click on this link: https://anneth-farm.square.site/ to order. (I tried but my hoofs just can’t seem to make it work- but I know you guys have fingers and thumbs…)
Why should ewe all try this? Do I have to explain everything to you humans - and they say sheep are - well never mind. Here goes….
1) It will keep ewe a bit safer as ewe can pay ahead of time and money is a source of potential infection (although Chris and Stan will take cash at the market)
2)It helps Chris and Stan manage their inventory and only pick what they think is needed - this means the produce will be super fresh!
3) It means ewe won’t get to the market and find they are sold out! Ewe can even sleep in a bit and your order will still be waiting for ewe! Just remember the market hours are now 9:30 to 11:30 am
4) Ewe still get to go to the market and see other human beings and if ewe see something else you want ewe can always decide to buy more there!
5) I am a Ram and I will butt you if you don’t listen to me!
Anneth Farm - Market at the Gate Wednesdays
Look at those delicious Windsor Broad Beans! You do not have to be afraid of this lovely vegetable. You can find different ways to prepare them on our recipes tab. If your family is from the UK you will be very familiar with these as they have been a staple of Brits for years-I remember seeing bins of these overflowing at the greengrocers when I was a child visiting my family in England and Wales.
You can get them from us at the farm on Wednesdays in person. ( like today for example!) We open our stand inside the gates on Wednesdays from 10:30 am to 6pm. Just turn into our driveway and park to your left. Our fantastic assistant, Christian, will be there to help you-if there seems to be no one there - there is a very very loud bell sitting on the table and you can ring it. Or you can text him (his number is on the blackboard) or actually just walk in the gate to the market garden and holler at him if he is using a loud machine! Because we are in phase 2 of the COVID plan, we can give up to 4 people a farm tour on Wednesdays but we do ask that you call ahead (250 885 2384) or email to arrange, we do ask that you maintain appropriate social distancing. http://www.annethfarm.com/farm-tours

BREAKING NEWS! Anneth Farm is also participating in the South Island Farm Hub. Right now it is supplying local farm produce to organizations, charities and schools but will soon be open as an online market for home deliveries. it will function as an online farm market and you select farm products from over 20 farms -go to checkout and the food is delivered to you. You will note there is a slight markup for delivery. So now you have 3 options! You can come in person to see us at the farm on Wednesdays or North Saanich Farm market Saturdays. or you can go online for pickup to our own store or for delivery to the South Island Farm Hub. www.sifarmhub.ca
Listen Up People - This is how Anneth farm works this farming season
Hi everyone - I am Cinnamon and I am a purebred Cotswold Ram. I am the pasture manager here at Anneth and am in charge of 19 ewes and lambs. And now I’m in charge of telling ewe (er -you) how best to get your hooves (er-hands) on all of Anneth’s delcious produce. So pay attention….
1) Anneth Farm has an onine store! You can go on there to look at their current inventory and just browse, or you can select items and charge them to your credit card (I LOVE charging, being a male sheep - that’s why they call me a Ram). Pick up times are MONDAY TO THURSDAY 4 TO 6 PM AT THE FARM ) 9420 West Saanich Road) OR SATURDAYS 9:30 TO 12:30am AT THE NORTH SAANICH FARM MARKET - (10990 W Saanich Rd, North Saanich, BC V8L 5P6)
2) If you dont like charging ( hard to believe- but humans are interesting) you can just browse on the store and then e mail Chris and Stan at annethfarm@gmail.com to tell them what you want and they will invoice you so you can pay when you arrive with cash or bank card or even use an etransfer. Again the same pick up times apply as in (1) above.
3) LIVE MARKETS:
WEDNESDAYS AT THE FARM GATE (9420 West Saanich Road) 10;30 to 6 pm. Come and buy our produce right here at the farm. The humans respect social distancing ( not me - I’m a Ram and like to get with the ladies if you know what I mean!) and and may restrict how many other humans they serve at one time but it is a very small farm and the shopping is usually pretty quiet and peaceful. These markets are run by our summer student Christian Louie who is learning the market garden ropes and will be happy to serve you. The humans accept all major credit cards, bank cards and cash. (whatever they are - I prefer grain!)

Come to Anneth Farm Saturday between 10 am and 1 pm! Our season is just startng so we will have more of our veggie starts- ( Tomatoes, peppers both hot and sweet, squash, zucchini and pumpkin) as well as broad beans, radishes, bags of salad greens and broccoli. We will have a few lovely bouquets of flowers. We would just LOVE IT if you would browse on our online store at https://anneth-farm.square.site/.
You can preorder and pick up during our market hours on Saturday if you use the store. If you do not wish to order using your credit card, have a look online to see what we have and then send us an email with your order and we will package it up for you. Then you can pay when you get here or send us an etransfer.

Produce meets Pixels: Anneth is Online!!!
One great thing about farming is that we are always “working from home”. However in this time of Social Distancing and public safety we really want to create some choice as to how you access our farm produce. Now bear with us - there will be errors because we are farmers on a very small farm so forgive us in advance for our bumbling attempts to send squash to screen and make our blueberries binary! This site has its limitations. It is run by “Weeble” and is contracted by “Square” which is our point of sale provider. Therefore we feel it is secure when it asks for your information. Having said that - the only form of payment available when you order on this site is a credit card. If you choose to do this - you can have it record your information and this is called “Square Pay”, making it much easier the next time you place an order with us. it really helps us stay organized as it manages our inventory so we don’t sell you food we dont have!
Of course we know that nothing online is completely safe and that many people are not comfortable with ordering online so here is what you do if you want to place an order and pay when you get to the stand:
We will be opening our farm stand from Monday to Thursday from 4 pm to 6 pm starting June 1st. (9420 West Saanich Road). During that time one of us will be there to meet and serve you. If you do not wish to order online, we would suggest you use the online store link to see what produce we have available on that day and then pre order by e mailing us your order to annethfarm@gmail.com. We can then send you an invoice and you can pay one of several ways:
1) Just follow directions and pay using the “Square” invoice
2) Send us an etransfer to annethfarm@gmail.com. (We have autodeposit)
3) Pay when you get to the stand - we have “tap” and can take credit cards or bank cards
4) Pay us cash when you come to pick up your order.
Of course if you just want to drop in between 4 and 6 Monday to Thursday - we will be there and you can shop the old fashioned way, although we do ask you to respect 2 meters of social distancing.
We will be at the North Saanich Farm Market https://www.facebook.com/North-Saanich-Farm-Market-114647165219152/ every Saturday morning from 9:30 to 12:30 and you can also arrange to pick up your pre orders there. The market will be quite different this year with only food, no music or crafts. We encourage you to try some of these new ways of ordering. We are pioneering this together. If you choose to email us for your pre order please remember that we then have to manually manage our inventory so there will be times when the food you have ordered may be sold out - if that happens we will offer you a credit toward your next purchase or offer a substitute.

Here’s whats going on this month at Anneth!
We are not daunted by that crazy virus but there will be a few changes becasue of it……
HI everyone. Here’s whats coming up….
First of all we are having a VEGGIE START SALE at the farm gate on Saturday May 16th from 10 am to 1 pm. This is your chance to grow Anneth Farm Tomatoes and Peppers at home! We will have a few other goodies like early radishes, greens and some eggs. We are at 9420 West Saanich Road.
We have a beautiful new hen house and run thanks to our farm manager Krista and her husband Andy. Our eggs can be found daily on our outside honour stand.
After June 1st you can find us Saturday mornings at the North Saanich Farm Market and Wednesday evenings at out own farm gate. For details go to:

Good news! We are finally ready to host our first pie making workshop here at the farm.! We have room for 5 participants for this workshop which includes:
Creation of your own 9 inch apple pie to take home and bake or freeze,
Printed recipe and pie making tips and tricks
A slice of Chris’ fresh baked apple pie, coffee or tea.
