Big Changes, Little Farmers!

We are welcoming Tiny Farm Foods and Secret Garden Cut Flowers to our farm this coming season.  These farms began as dreams by the Emanuel family's children, Paige and Gavin.  Mom Katy, has been fueling their dreams in the background, looking after the cultivation and harvesting of the flowers and produce. She has also supported them as their dreams grow ever bigger. Katy truly has a love for working in the dirt and growing plants.  She is passionate about food security and the locally grown flower movement.  Dad David, helps in the background with delivery of materials and you may occasionally find him in the fields on a sunny day.

Gavin has always dreamed of being a flower farmer and his obsession with Dahlias was what started his business. Gavin's business really took off this fall with the introduction of bouquet workshops and a partnerships with a local retail store.

Paige has a passion for cooking with local produce and dreamed of making local produce more accessible for her neighbours.  She began with the idea of a small vegetable delivery business for her neighbours in Sidney.

This year is their official foray into growing for market and further connecting with the local farm community.

Hi everyone. We have brussel sprouts available for pickup for a short time. So fresh and sweet. This is a vegetable that is not neutral…have you noticed how everyone has a very strong opinion about these little darlings?? They adore them, despise them, will eat only steamed, will eat only roasted, must have bacon added…etc etc etc.

Anyway our supply is limited.. Price is $6/pound and you should email us if you want some. First come, first served based on time of email!

New Years Resolution ..Eat more cabbage?

Happy New Year to you all. We hope your holiday season has been peaceful and restorative. We have been blessed with the opportunity to have all of our family around us over the last couple of weeks.

And we have also been blessed with the best crop of winter cabbage you can imagine. Sweetened by the cold weather, it is a real treat. Just before Christmas, Chris and 5 friends had a cabbage roll making party and it resulted in many delicious meals. Stan has made sauerkraut and pickled cabbage and keeps reminding everyone that sauerkraut has more concentrated probiotics than any other food (true).

So if you would like some of this cabbage bounty, please email us at annethfarm@gmail.com and we can make it happen.

BACK IN BUSINESS for the fall - in a new way....

What a crazy year. it is still gorgeous out there and our produce is still delivering. Now we need to get it to you in a more relaxed way. Here is how it works. When the sign says “open” and the gates are open, you can come on in. Drive right in and park to your immediate left. The stand will be stocked with your favourite veggies and flowers. The prices will be clearly marked. Just pick what you need, write down what you are buying; ie the individual prices and a total as well. The notebook and a pen are right beside the antique scale. Write us a note if you like (we love getting notes). Then you can pay one of two ways…

1) Cash in the locked wooden box labelled Anneth Farm

2) E-transfer to annethfarm@gmail.com. (We have autodeposit enabled.)

We look forward to doing business with you in this whole new way. We anticipate the honour stand will be open most days over the next 2 to 3 weeks.

"Fall" Back Plan for Market. Tomatoes to the max!

When we last left the continuing saga of Anneth, our farmers had retreated from market to take stock and gain some personal time. So as you know we are not having regular Wednesday farm gate markets or participating in the North Saanich Farm Market on Saturdays. However, we really have loved hearing from those of you who have reached out by email either with messages of support, or to order our bulk tomatoes and Thanksgiving turkeys. We still have LOTS OF BULK TOMATOES! What you see in the picture above is available today. More to come. Also we do still have a few turkeys available. For orders email us at annethfarm@gmail.com.

In addition we are thinking of opening our stand again for the remainder of the season but as an HONOUR STAND ONLY. The sign will indicate that we are open but stand will not be staffed. All produce will be weighed and priced and you can pay with cash in the lockbox or by etransfer. This will take us a few days to work out. Details to follow!
